This coin holder is the 31st in the publisher's series for the 50 State Quarters collection. It includes two Quarters, minted in Philadelphia and Denver. Both quarters provided are uncirculated.

Five interior panels provide facts about "the Golden State," including the state's history, economy, and unique and diverse geography. One paragraph addresses Muir himself, to explain: "Naturalist and writer John Muir is considered by many to be the father of America's conservation movement. His writings helped inspire the creation of our National Park system, and he founded the Sierra Club. the California State Quarter honors the man voted "The Greatest Californian" in 1976. He stands before Half Dome in Yosemite National Park, with a California condor soaring overhead."
