Description: John Muir sits upon a boulder in Nature’s cathedral, his eyes alighting upon the wonders that have been the source of his daily inspiration. His mind races to find a way to put into mere words a way to describe what can only be experienced. Like the prophet Moses leading his people into the wilderness, so too has he come to free us from our troubles and tell us all….

The pose for this piece is adapted from a familiar photograph of Muir taken by Professor Francis M. Fritz in 1907:

Material: cold-cast bronze. Handcrafted in California, each piece is cast in cold-cast bronze (which is a mixture of bronze powder with a resin binder), and colorants and wax are applied to protect its finish.
