About the John Muir Newsletter

The John Muir Newsletter is published quarterly by The John Muir Center for Environmental Studies of the University of the Pacific. In cooperation with the Holt-Atherton Library, the depository of the John Muir Papers, the Newsletter publishes articles, book reviews, historical photos, reprints of rare clips, and other materials by and about Muir. The Newsletter is now in its seventh year of publication.

By becoming a member of the John Muir Center for Regional Studies, you will receive the quarterly Newsletter for a full year, and will be kept on the mailing list to receive information on the annual California History Institute and other events and opportunities sponsored by the John Muir Center.

The reprints featured on the John Muir Exhibit are typically three or four years old, and do not contain the historical photos and graphic art contained in the printed newsletter, so if you want the latest information on Muir scholarship, please subscribe to the John Muir Newsletter and support the John Muir Center for Regional Studies.

You can join the The John Muir Center for Environmental Studies and obtain a subscription to the John Muir Newsletter by sending your name, institutional affiliation, mailing address, and zip code, along with $15 per year (plus $4 for addresses outside the U.S.A.), to:
