Naturalist
Since founding the California Institute of Man in Nature in 1969, John has worked to expand and preserve California's parklands, raising money to purchase private property and lobbying legislators for park bills. He is currently trying to create a cross-California trail, from Mendocino to Tahoe.
John Olmsted was recently featured with a photograph in the 2000 National Geographic book John Muir: Nature's Visionary by Gretel Ehrlich.
John Olmsted will present 30-60 minute programs on John Muir for schools (grades 3-12), colleges and universities, nature groups, and any church or general group.
1. Appear in costume as John Muir and speak to students; lead field trips in school yards, etc.
2. Same plus 1 projector slide show as 50% of the program.
3. Same plus 4 projector slide show with John Muir life history and work of John Muir disciples - focus mainly California, Yosemite, etc.
Cost is adjusted to group finances and may be free (except transportation if Muir books are sold).
