  • Government attorney, Sierra Club activist, author, volunteer webmaster.
  • After reading John Muir's books in junior high in the mid-sixties, Wood joined the Sierra Club and has been active in it from the early 1970's to the present.
  • Co-founded in 1994, and since 1996 is Volunteer Webmaster for the John Muir Exhibit website
  • Available as a public speaker on John Muir generally, including illustrated presentations, including: "John Muir's Continuing Inspiration," "John Muir Around the World," "John Muir and the Animal Kingdom," and "John Muir in India." He is also available for workshops to discuss the John Muir in education (including the John Muir Study Guide and History Day), John Muir in general, or other Muir-related topics such as the California State Quarter.

  • A founding member, chair for four years, and board member (August, 2001-August, 2007), of the grassroots campaign organization Restore Hetch Hetchy which seeks a win-win solution to restoring John Muir's beloved "second Yosemite" while providing water and power to Bay Area cities. Wood now serves on the Advisory Committee of Restore Hetch Hetchy.
  • Chair and webmaster of Sierra Club LeConte Memorial Lodge Committee, which oversees the Club's historic stone-crafted building and educational program in Yosemite Valley.
