"Scotch born naturalist John Muir, was instrumental in preserving the giant redwoods.

This First Day Cover for the se-tenant block of the 1978 American Trees issue (Scott # 1767a, incorporating Scott # 1764-1767), in combination with the 1964 Muir stamp (Scott #1245), includes a cachet about John Muir.
