[Picture] Eight-year-old Starr Moss and his 13-year-old brother, Hart,
on the last leg of a 4,000 mile cross-country bicycling trek during which
they publicized the Sierra Club's Inner City Outings program. The Milwaukee
boys--joined by sister Evan, 11, for 1,200 miles of the trip and accompanied
by adult chaperones the whole way---began their adventure in April with
a dawn ride through Manhattan and rolled west all summer long. Their journey
ended in August in San Francisco, where they visited Sierra Club headquarters.
Hart linked the trip to ICO--which provides outdoor experiences for
low-income urban youth--to fulfill a social-awareness condition of his
Bar Mitzvah. "We've always had the chance to have adventures," he explained.
"It's only fair to give other kids a chance."
