"Take More Money . . . and Run,"
a new report produced by the Sierra
Club and the Environmental Working Group, reveals the blatant link
between polluter political action committee contributions and
anti-environment votes in the U.S. Senate.
A followup investigation of last year's
"Take the Money . . . and Run,"
this report shows that 46
current senators have taken $18.9 million dollars since 1991 from these
PACs while voting to weaken laws that protect Americans from pollution.
On two critical votes in the Senate, one on regulatory "reform" and one
on an EPA appropriations bill that would have crippled the agency's
ability to enforce clean air standards, those senators who voted
against the environment received, on average, more than twice as much
money from anti-environmental PACs as those who stood for strong
protection.
