Teamwork among volunteer activists and staff is a key factor in the Club's
environmental victories. But knowing who to call when you need assistance or
information on various campaigns is not always easy. The conservation staff,
located in San Francisco, Washington, D.C. and regional field offices, work with
volunteers on national and regional campaigns and offer assistance to chapters
and groups working on local issues.
The Washington, D.C., legislative office is the base of the Club's national
lobbying efforts. Staff including Club Chairman Mike McCloskey, Legislative
Director Debbie Sease, Field Program Director Bob Bingaman and Communications
Director Kristin Hyde work on our national priority campaigns. The Washington,
D.C., office also hosts several training and lobbying events for chapter leaders
each year. Contact the Washington, D.C., office if you have questions about the
Club's national priority campaigns. The D.C. Legislative Hotline, (202) 675-
2394, provides weekly updates and action items on the latest pending national
environmental legislation.
Example:
To get the latest information on the status of the EPA's proposals on

For chapters needing information or help with how to get involved in national,
regional or statewide campaigns, the first contact should be the regional field
office. Conservation staff in field offices support chapters and groups in
implementing conservation policy. While the field staff are part of the team
that works on national priority conservation campaigns, the greatest part of
their time is spent assisting volunteers with priority regional conservation
efforts. Field offices provide training to chapter activists, assist chapters
and groups develop an annual work plan as well as put together issue campaigns.
The field staff also support the Club's ecoregion program designed to develop
long-term campaigns for environmental protection and restoration. Contact your
field office for information on regional conservation issues or pending
legislation at the state or regional level. If you have questions about the
field program in general, contact Bob Bingaman, national field director.
Example:
For information on the status of the proposed development in Adirondack
State Park and what the Club is doing (see page 8) , contact the Northeast
regional field office.
