Steve Wanderlich hefts a load on the first Sierra Club outing to visit the new Grand
Staircase-Escalante National Monument after the president designated it. Here he's
overlooking Nipple Bench, near the southern part of the plateau. The trip focused on
familiarizing participants with this remote area and with the continuing need to promote
preservation of all of Utah's wildlands.
