Forests Aflame
With wildfires raging across the West, once again fingers of blame are being pointed at environmentalists. But as Ted Williams reported in "Only You Can Postpone Forest Fires" in our July/August 1995 issue, the U.S. Forest Service's policy of fire suppression is the real culprit and "salvage logging" —which the agency is still pushing— is the worst possible solution.
