KITCHENWARE LAMP
A dishy lamp lights things up

Step 2: Put together the electrical hardware for your lamp. One approach is to purchase a lamp kit, which includes a lamp harp, a socket with a switch attached, a cord, and a plug. However, the standard 10-inch lamp harp in these kits may be too big for your creation, so another option is to purchase a cord set (a socket with the cord, plug, and switch already attached) and buy the right-size lamp harp separately. A drawback of both lamp kits and cord sets is the non-detachable plug, which makes threading the cord through the dishware problematic. So perhaps the best option is to buy a socket, a cord, a plug, and a switch individually and assemble a cord set. (For directions, click see "Repurpose: Blender Lamp.") Test your hardware with a lightbulb to make sure it works, and then remove the plug (and the switch too if it’s the kind that attaches to the cord) to complete the lamp.
