Responsible Trade Program:
About Us

About Our Director

Ilana Solomon joined the Sierra Club in early 2012 to lead the Club's work on responsible trade. Ilana works to create public support for trade and investment rules that protect the environment and to shed light on the environmental threats posed by our current global trading system. Before joining Sierra Club, Ilana was Senior Policy Analyst with ActionAid, a rights-based anti-poverty agency working in 50 countries. Ilana joined ActionAid in 2004 and worked on international climate policy, focused on the impacts of climate change in developing countries and on the need for new funding to support communities to build resilience to climate change. Ilana graduated from Oberlin College with majors in Latin American Studies and Music and has a Masters of International Service from the School of International Service (SIS) at American University.
