New John Muir collection includes personal correspondence and rare writings of acclaimed conservationist

John Muir -- His Life and Letters and Other Writings is a new collection which combines selected letters written by the noted conservationist to his numerous collaborators and admirers with portions of Muir's unfinished autobiography.

Also included in this omnibus are some of Muir's lesser-known books, including The Cruise of the Corwin , which describes the search for a ship lost in Alaskan waters in 1876; Stickeen , a loving portrait of a dog that accompanied Muir on a glacier exploration trip; and Edward Henry Harriman , a tribute to a railroad magnate who was one of Muir's most unlikely political allies. Other works included are taken from Muir's rarely seen and published pamphlets and essays, such as The Discovery of Glacier Bay , Picturesque California , and several scientific papers.
