Pentatonic Scale on the Troubadour Harp
tune B to C and E to F

Johnny O' the Mountains,
Come a-runnin' down lightly
From high on the silver Sierra;
In the waterfalls and rills
Are you dancin' up there still,
Singin' boldly for the silver Sierra?

The mighty oak spreads its giant limbs
Sheltering seedlings from the ragin' storm;
And so did you protect the mountain majesty,
The wild, the beautiful, the free.

'Cause they're your brothers, and that's enough.
They're your sisters, and I'm thinking of
How short this life is:
Generations come and go,
Like fallen leaves upon the forest floor.

All the Earth's children spread their tiny arms,
To dance and play beneath the trees you've saved.
and so would I climb the hills and follow you
To protect the wild, the beautiful, the free.

'Cause they're our children, and that's enough;
We're one family, and I'm thinking of
How short this life is:
Generations come and go
Like fallen leaves upon the forest floor.

Johnny O' the Mountains,
Come a-runnin' down lightly
From high on the silver Sierra;
In the waterfalls and rills
Are you dancin' up there still,
Singin' boldly for the silver Sierra?
