An interesting feature of this first day cover is the reverse side of the stamp is also pasted on the cover next to the stamp itself, which contains the text written by the U.S. Postal Service: "Often referred to an a father of national parks, John Muir was a naturalist who championed the wilderness and its preservation. Celebrate the Century"
Muir was previously honored with a 5 cent postage stamp in 1964.
