Khol Kraft John Muir 1964 First Day Cover
The text reads:
"John Muir
Father of The Yosemite
Born in Scotland on April 21, 1838. He was as close to nature as it was humanly possible,
and spent a lifetime in the wilderness observing nature in all her beauty. A Glacier in Alaska is named after him and also a small forest of Giant Sequoias in California, which he fought to
have made into a National Park, bears his name. His love of nature helped to influence the right people to adopt a policy of the National Parks. John Muir died in 1914."
Muir has subsequently been honored with a 32 cent postage stamp in 1998.
