One way to combat state-level audit privilege bills is via
the airwaves. Radio ads are not only effective but, if you
choose your stations carefully, surprisingly inexpensive.
Below is the script for a Sierra Club radio spot that was
broadcast recently in the St. Louis area. The ad ran 10
times a day for an entire week at a total cost of $350
- half of which was paid for by the Club's coalition
partner.
Radio Script, 30 Seconds
Representative Phil Smith has a bill in the Missouri General
Assembly that would let polluters keep their violations
secret and be immune from any penalties - even criminal
penalties.
Favoring this bill were major chemical and industrial
corporations.
If industries violate the law, citizens have a right to know
and the company should be held accountable. What if persons
were injured or their property damaged?
Call Representative Phil Smith at 754-4577 and ask him why
he is doing this . . . that's 754-4577.
Paid for by the Sierra Club and the Missouri Coalition for
the Environment.
