In addition to contributing directly to these champions, how
can Sierra Club activists help elect pro-environment
candidates? The following tips can help build media, money
and momentum for a campaign:

Hold a small donor fund-raising event at someone's house
(100 guests donating $25 each will raise $2,500).

Hold a press conference to announce your endorsement of a
particular candidate.

Write letters-to-the-editor of local papers about why people
should vote for your endorsee, or against his/her opponent.

Call in to local radio talk shows to talk about your
candidate.

Organize volunteers to phone Club members to remind them to
vote and tell them about endorsement decision and
candidates' environmental records.

Watch the opposition to make sure they don't claim to be pro-
environment when they are not, and be prepared to hold
candidates accountable to their records.
