Bill Meadows
With deep sadness and best wishes, the Sierra Club bids farewell to
Centennial Campaign Director Bill Meadows, who will become the next
president of the Wilderness Society.
As director of Centennial for the past 4 and a half years, Meadows led
the program in what Executive Director Carl Pope called "its most
important years."
"Bill has been the person who has successfully integrated the culture
of major gift fundraising with the volunteer activist culture of the
Sierra Club," said Pope. "Losing him will be a major blow, but it is
much easier to absorb knowing that he will be leading such a critical
element in the environmental coalition."
"The Centennial Campaign has been a great effort, a superb plan, and I
have been pleased to be part of it," said Meadows. "My life in the
Sierra Club has shaped my being. I am who I am because of it, and I
leave part of my heart with it."
