Sierra Club

A list of Sierra Club volunteer leaders

The Planet, May 1997, Volume 4, number 4

In September 1994, the Sierra Club Board of Directors established a system of six governance committees to oversee most of the Club's ongoing administrative and conservation work. While each governance committee must keep the Board informed, they make most of the decisions that guide the Club's day-to-day operations. Only the most important of these decisions require Board review and approval.

The Club's national environmental concerns have been organized into three broad areas, each headed by a strategy team. These teams establish committees and task forces that focus on specific areas of the Club's conservation agenda and make ongoing tactical decisions to guide and monitor each campaign.
