The song, "John of the Mountains" can be found on both Mariposa's first album, First Light of Dawn (1993), and their second album, California in My Heart (1999).

The group Mariposa consists of Michele Whizin on vocals, stand-up bass, and guitar, Michael Wilson on vocals, guitar, accordian, Matthew Werner on vocals, guitar, and mandolin, and Maria Kersey on vocals and mandolin. Mariposa'a music is a collection of traditional, contemporary, and original songs, mixing social and environmental themes with a love for uplifting and participatory folk music.
