Not So Fast
Pennsylvania officials will think twice next time before putting up half-a-million acres of state forest and park land for auction for oil and gas leasing without public input. After the idea went public, the Club's Pennsylvania Chapter pressured the state to complete an environmental analysis and convinced the state's Department of Conservation and Natural Resources to solicit public comment and schedule public meetings before making a final decision. Billing Wilderness
On May 11, Sen. Barbara Boxer (D-Calif.) announced plans to introduce the California Wild Heritage Wilderness Act, which would protect 2.5 million acres of wilderness and more than 400 miles of wild-and-scenic river.
