Cachet depicts a portrait of John Muir and a sketch of a glacier identified as Muir Glacier, Alaska.

This first day cover is also available with an additional postage stamp depictin noted university educator Mark Hopkins.



Muir has subsequently been honored with a 32 cent postage stamp in 1998.
